Remembering Peter Long: Our Chess Legend
With deep sorrow, we say goodbye to Peter Long, a great man whose passion and dedication shaped Johor’s chess community. His leadership brought national recognition; organising key tournaments and advancing chess education via National Arbiter and FIDE Trainer Seminars.
His expert contribution as Johor’s SUKMA chief coach in 2024, leading the team to a gold and two bronze medals. Beyond tournaments, he mentored young talents, leaving a lasting impact on future generations.
Peter’s legacy will live on through the players he inspired. The Johor Chess Association is forever grateful. He is irreplaceable and will be deeply missed.
